YEREVAN, JUNE 17, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan says the annual DigiTech business forum is an important platform to present the technology achievements, to find new investment and business opportunities, to promote cooperation and exchange of practice.

He stated that the IT sector is one of the fastest growing industries in Armenia, and in recent years the average growth of it comprises 20-25%. According to him, the IT specialists create high added value, and make Armenia competitive in the world market.

“In cooperation with the IT private sector, the Armenian Government implements a number of initiatives towards the development of the IT ecosystem in Armenia which are aimed for bringing foreign investments, high quality training and capacity building, promoting entrepreneurship, creating jobs”, "Armenpress" reports, the Prime Minister said.  

The Prime Minister, speaking about the legislative package adopted in 2015 which provided tax benefits to the newly established companies in the IT sector, said with satisfaction 111 IT companies were created within a year 88 of which received tax benefit certificates creating more than 470 jobs.

“We appreciate the fact that the Armenian IT companies are engaged in research and provide high engineering difficult solutions the competitive products of which are being sold both in foreign and domestic markets”, he stated.

He emphasized that the Government will be consistent with the IT sector development which will contribute to the prosperity of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh.

President of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises Alexandr Yesayan appreciated the sustainable economic growth of the IT sector year by year and expressed hope the IT solutions will be used not only in Armenia, but rather, Armenia as an export country will have its unique place in the world IT map. “We have many solutions for other sectors, our solutions must gradually become more and more, and this will contribute to the development of other sectors. DigiTech business forum enables our companies to show and discuss these solutions with the representatives of other sectors”, Yesayan said.

The 9th annual DigiTech business forum is focused on the issues related to the technology development and security. It is being held on June 17-18.
