YEREVAN, JUNE 28, ARMENPRESS. The formation of the Armenia-Russia joint air defense system does not deprive Armenia the independence to manage its own measures of air defense, Deputy Minister of Defense Ara Nazaryan said during the Parliamentary discussions on the joint air defense agreement.

“Currently, Armenia is defending its air space with its measures. After the confirmation of this agreement, we will continue managing out air defense systems, however the Russian resources will be added to them”, Nazaryan said.

The Deputy Minister clarified that the agreement will give the opportunity to Armenia to use Russia’s air defense measures as well. “It is about UAVs, fighter aircraft, as well as about other weapon systems. We will use this as an additional resource to defend our air space”, Nazaryan said.
