US Vice President, Turkish PM hold phone talk over Fethullah Gulen’s extradition

YEREVAN, JULY 22, ARMENPRESS. Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim held a phone talk with Vice President of the United States Joe Biden during which they discussed the extradition of Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen who is blamed by the Turkish leadership over initiating the military coup attempt in Turkey, reports CNN Turk.

Biden said first of all the US independent courts must make a decision over this issue. At the same time Biden emphasized that the US is ready to work with Turkey over this issue.

In his turn, the Turkish PM recalled that they have already sent a request to the US over Gulen’s extradition. He expressed hope the United States as their ally will extradite Gulen to Turkey.

On July 15 a group of rebels initiated a military coup attempt in Turkey. They took under their control several strategic objects in Ankara and Istanbul, but after few hours the rebellion has been suppressed.

According to the recent information provided by Erdogan, 246 pro-governmental people were killed, 2185 are wounded, 10410 have been arrested, 4060 are imprisoned from which 103 are generals.

More than 100 coup attempt participants were killed.

The Turkish leadership believes Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, the founder of the Hizmet movement, is behind the failed military coup attempt.
