165 detained by Police in Khorenatsi Street and Sari Tagh, Yerevan

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS. 165 people have been detained by Police from Khorenatsi Street and Sari Tagh, the Public Relations and Press Service of the Police told ARMENPRESS.

No information is yet available on released detainees.

On July 29, demonstrators who were proceeding from Freedom Square towards Khorenatsi Street have surprisingly changed the direction of the rally and began moving towards Sari Tagh.

When a separate group of the rally attempted to cross the police line and breach the police cordons, Police took special measures. A clash occurred, which resulted in reporters being injured as well, according to preliminary data – hardware was damaged also.

Police have warned multiple times about the illegal nature of the rally and urged demonstrators in Khorenatsi Street and Sari Tagh to leave the area, and then Police dispersed the rally.

Police cordons started moving towards the demonstrators, flashbangs were used and many were detained.
