23 arrested for rioting in Yerevan

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS. The Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case regarding the riots of July 29.

The Investigative Committee told ARMENPRESS Police have provided them materials regarding several people organizing mass disturbances in Erebuni and Nubarashen districts of Yerevan.

Investigation revealed several people have organized mass disturbances at 22:30, July 29 in Erebuni and Nubarashen districts, during which on-duty police officers have been subjected to violence, as a result public safety has been endangered.

A criminal case has been initiated based on Article 225 paragraph 1, 2 of the Criminal Code.

23 people have been arrested in suspicion of rioting and organizing the riots, including Armen Martirosyan and Andrias Ghukasyan.

According to preliminary data, 67 people with different injuries sought medical treatment across hospitals in Yerevan as result of the incident in the evening of July 29.

Investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the sustained injuries.

 

Notice- Suspect is innocent until proven guilty by the Court of Law.
