Criminal case initiated regarding incidents of violence against reporters – Prosecutor General’s 
Office

 YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS. On duty reporters were injured, their equipment has been damaged as result of the clashes overnight July 29-30 in Khorenatsi Street and Sari Tagh, Yerevan.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has issued an announcement in this regard:

“A criminal case has been initiated in the Prosecutor General’s Office based on Article 164 points 1 and 3, regarding the abovementioned incidents of obstructing the legal activities of reporters by violence and other means endangering the safety of reporters. The criminal case has been sent to the Special Investigative Service for preliminary investigation.

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General’s Office has contacted the media – Armenia TV, azatutyun.am, a1plus.am, 1in.am, lragir.am, panorama.am, civilnet.am, news.am, armlur.am – asking them to provide the Prosecutor General’s Office with materials regarding violence against reporters and damaged equipment of the media, for examining them within the framework of the criminal case.

The Prosecutor General’s Office urges, if there are media whose representatives have been victims of the abovementioned incidents, to send any information and facts regarding violence against reporters.”
