YEREVAN, AUGUST 4, ARMENPRESS. In an interview with “Armenpress,  Director of the National Archives of Armenia Amatuni Virabyan said this year the digitization process of the National Archives' movies will be completed.

“This year we will complete the digitization of movies. 1927 movies have already been digitized. We have 2200 movies. We will complete the digitization of the remaining movies in few months and we can already say we have the electronic versions of all movie collection”, he said.

The oldest video, which is maintained in the National Archives, is the funeral of Catholicos Izmirlyan in 1911. Moreover, the first fiction film “Namus” shot in 1925, as well as other films are being kept in the National Archives. Amatuni Virabyan said in any case the movie ribbons will be maintained.

For several years the digitization process of the archival documents is underway. This allows the information to become more available.
