YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. French Alfortville city will cooperate with any community of Nagorno Karabakh, French Alfortville city Mayor, Vice-Chairman of Armenia-France Friendship Group of the Upper House Luc Carvounas said, reports “Armenpress”.

“It is already my 4th visit to Armenia. This year I had a strong desire to visit Armenia and celebrate the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence with you. During this visit we decided to spend a day in the NKR. Taking into account the April four-day war I wanted to see how we must work with our partners, and we decided to meet the NKR President and the Parliament Speaker. At the meetings we have tried to understand what ways of cooperation exist. And I have decided to take steps aimed at cooperating with any community of Nagorno Karabakh”, he said adding that there is such cooperation experience with Oshakan community of Armenia. Alfortville and Oshakan are sister-cities.

“There is new assistance initiative which relates to the Armenian people of Javakheti. Within the framework of that initiative recently “Youth, Cultural Center” has been opened in Ninotsminda, and Luc Carvounas assisted it”, Alfortville Deputy Mayor Richard Ananian said.

Alfortville city is called small Armenia in France. The Armenian community of Alfortville has been formed during the First World War. Richard Ananian said 44.500 people live in Alfortville, from whom nearly 8000 people are with Armenian origins.

“The local Armenians are very active in political life. Their activity is being more realized during the elections. We always manage to deliver our messages to the high-ranking circles. We are carefully following the events taking place in Armenia, and convey our concerns to the political field. It is important that there are officials with Armenian origins in France”, he said.
