Stamps dedicated to Sergey Paradjanov Museum will increase interest towards Armenia

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS. On November 18th, 2016, 2 postage stamps dedicated to the theme “Museums of Armenia. Sergey Paradjanov Museum” have been cancelled and put into circulation, reports “Armenpress”.

The postage stamps with nominal values of 300 AMD and 380 AMD are printed in “Cartor” printing house in France.

The postage stamp with nominal value of 300 AMD depicts a part of the facade of the Sergey Paradjanov Museum and the stamp with nominal value of 380 AMD represents the collage image of the halls of the S. Paradjanov Museum.

“The stamps contribute to Armenia’s recognition throughout the world. Every year the collections of stamps are increasing. We have presented our exhibits at the New York stamp exhibition, and gained a common attention and won a prize in the competition”, “HayPost” CJSC Trust Manager Juan Pablo Gechidjian said.

President of the Union of Philatelists of Armenia Hovik Musayelyan said numerous philatelist exhibitions are being held within a year. “The stamp is one of the national symbols. State officials give stamps as gift to their foreign counterparts during their official visits. One of our tasks is to organize events and exhibitions, where exclusive stamp samples will be presented”, Hovik Musayelyan said.

Stamp designer Davit Dovlatyan said he personally knew Paradjanov. “The topic was familiar and I enjoyed working on the stamp. It is important to make the foreigners to get familiarized with this unique Museum, and we are doing this in our own way”, the designer said.

Director of the Sergey Paradjanov Museum Zaven Sargsyan stated that a lot of people arrive in Armenia to visit the Museum. “Paradjanov was the man who said everywhere that he is an Armenian, and his desire is to present and develop his art in Armenia, although different nations consider Paradjanov theirs”, Zaven Sargsyan said.
