YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS. “Who does not search for friends, he is his own enemy”, this was the slogan of the event that took place at Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall in Yerevan organized by "Iveria" patriotic Union of Georgians in Armenia. The event turned into a brilliant demonstration of centuries-old Armenian-Georgian friendship. The fact that Armenian and Georgian languages were used equally during the event was the evidence of that.

Not only Armenian and Georgian songs and dances were performed at the event, but the establishment and activities of the Iveria community was largely touched upon.

The keynote speakers of the event, Nino Spandarashvili and Liana Samadalashvili briefed on the creation of "Iveria" patriotic Union.

A Sunday school operates at the Georgian community, as well as singing and dancing groups attended by both adults and children. In addition, the community has had its own printed newspaper,“Iveria” monthly, for already 12 years. The representatives of the community have for many times stated that thank to the support by the Government of Armenia the Georgian community, as well as the other national minorities are able preserve their national culture, language and traditions.

One of Sayat-Nova’s songs was performed at the event as another demonstration of Armenian-Georgian friendship, after which many other musical and poetic works linking the cultures of Armenia and Georgia were performed.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia Giorgi Saganelidze was present at the event.
