YEREVAN, JANUARY 20, ARMENPRESS. The new Electoral Code of Armenia has been significantly improved and provides all opportunities on holding free and transparent elections, RPA faction MP Khosrov Harutyunyan told reporters on January 20, reports “Armenpress”.

“The fact that the Electoral Code was adopted as a result of unprecedented consensus between the political majority and opposition is welcoming. The leadership fixed in the Code almost all requirements presented by the opposition and the mechanisms that will increase public trust towards the electoral process”, the MP said.

He said Armenia enters a new stage of development, adding that the political majority understands well how it is important to increase the public trust towards the electoral processes. “Now we all are facing an important test. Whether we will be able to correctly use the serious legal opportunities provided by the Electoral Code? This is a very important issue and we, both the leadership and the opposition, must catch that test”, the MP said.

Harutyunyan said it is necessary to preset the public elections the results of which will not create complaint within the majority of them.
