YEREVAN, JANUARY 20, ARMENPRESS.  Donald Trump has assumed the post of the President of the USA. “Armenpress” reports Trump pronounced the oath speech with his hand on the Bible.

The official inauguration of Trump took place in front of the Capitol Building.

"I, Donald John Trump, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”, Donald Trump pronounced the oath text following Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts.

Almost the entire political elite of the USA was present at the ceremony. A number of Democrat senators and congressmen had refused to attend the ceremony. Former US Presidents, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, as well as acting President Obama with their wives were present at the inauguration.

Bill Clinton was accompanied by Hilary Clinton, Trump’s main defeated rival for presidency.  George H.W. Bush missed the ceremony for health reasons.
