Armenia to record growth in export and industry within a year – Minister Karayan

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 23, ARMENPRESS. The Government will be able to ensure 3.2% economic growth under the state budget this year, Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan told reporters, reports “Armenpress”.

“At least the 3.2% that we have put in the base of the state budget, will be ensured, however, there are many factors impacting the economic growth, including the agriculture sector, the construction field, and as you know, agriculture sector depends on climatic conditions”, the Minister said.

He also informed that 35% growth in exports was registered in January of this year, compared to the January 2016, at the same time, 12% growth in industry also was recorded which is very encouraging. “In other words, the directions we have stated and the preconditions we have created, we now express those figures already in numbers”, Karayan said.

Asked how these figures will impact the GDP growth by the end of the year, the Minister said: “Of course, positive, but the year has yet started, and I can say that our predictions are based on the fact in order to record at least 6-7% industrial growth by the end of the year. We will have at least 20-30% export growth on average within a year”, Suren Karayan said.
