YEREVAN, MARCH 1, ARMENPRESS. The Garun magazine, one of the favorites of the Armenian readers, marks its 50th anniversary of establishment on March 1.

The magazine, which was re-launched in 2016 after one year hiatus, will also be available online.

“This year we are planning to create the magazine’s website, which will also have a unique place among the online magazines. This will enable to provide direct interaction between readers and representatives of modern literature. Various events will also be held”, poet Ashot Gabrielyan, editor-in-chief of the Garun magazine told ARMENPRESS.

Gabrielyan highly underscored the digitization of the magazine and said all issues of the magazine will be digitized during this year, and the process has already begun.

A documentary will be filmed on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Garun, which will tell the history of the magazine.

The editor-in-chief specially stressed the great contribution of former editor-in-chiefs of the magazine Vardges Petrosyan, Anzhik Hakobyan, Meruzhan Ter Gulanyan, Levon Ananyan and Varuzhan Ayvazyan, in establishing the magazine, which made many writers famous, such as Hrachya Sarukhan, Hakob Movses, Edvard Militonyan, Davit Hovhannes, Hovhannes Grigoryan, Mushegh Galshoyan and others.

The literary-social-political independent magazine “Garun” (meaning Spring in Armenian) has been published in Yerevan since 1967.
