Second Armenian airline to carry out flights from Gyumri’s Shirak airport

YEREVAN, MARCH 23, ARMENPRESS. The General Department of Civil Aviation takes another step directed towards the development of northern airport, press service of the General Department told “Armenpress”.

According to the agreement reached between the General Department of Civil Aviation and Taron-Avia airline, starting from April, 2017 the airline will carry out regular and non-regular flights from Gyumri’s Shirak airport.

The launch of flights carried out by the airline will contribute to creation of new jobs and development of economy and tourism in the region.

Armenia’s Government launched a number of steps aimed at developing Gyumri’s Shirak airport: in particular, starting from December 31, 2014, an exit fee of 10.000 AMD is not charged from departing passengers, from January 1, 2017, the air navigation service tariff decreased by 50%, and the meteorological service is free of charge.

In addition, Armenia International Airports CJSC plans to make over 3 million USD investment for the development and modernization of facilities and infrastructures of Shirak airport in 2017.
