On March 27 a session was held dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the CIS IPA during which Hermine Naghdalyan delivered a speech. Congratulating the partners, she highly appreciated the CIS IPA’s role in harmonization of national legislation, as well as in the organization of model legislation, exchange of experience, conference and events, and women’s participation in political life. Naghdalyan considered the Eurasian Women Forum as an important and key event. She also highlighted the CIS IPA’s significant contribution to region’s economic integration processes within the frames of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Naghdalyan specifically highlighted the peaceful activity of the Assembly one of the major results of which is the trilateral agreement on ceasefire signed between Nagorno Karabakh, Armenia and Azerbaijan in 1994.

“During that period the CIS IPA activity didn’t have its precedent in the practice of parliamentary diplomacy, and of course, we appreciate the IPA’s contribution on settling most pressing issues in the CIS region. Unfortunately, in April, 2016 the military adventurism unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno Karabakh was a gross violation of not only the 1994 ceasefire agreement, but also of a number of international calls to settle the conflict exclusively through peaceful means”, Hermine Naghdalyan said, once again reaffirming Armenia’s stance on settling the conflict exclusively through peaceful means and based on norms and principles of international law.

At the end of the session the traditional awarding ceremony was held.
