498 Islamic State terrorists incarcerated in Turkish prisons
10:19, 29 March 2017YEREVAN, MARCH 29, ARMENPRESS. 498 Islamic State terrorists are currently incarcerated in Turkey’s prisons.
470 of the total inmates are remanded in custody, while 28 are convicted, Diken reported citing the justice ministry of Turkey.
Overall 4704 foreigners are imprisoned in Turkish penitentiaries. According to the ministry the number of foreign inmates has increased by 150% in 8 years.
In 2009, 40 convicts were incarcerated in Turkish prisons for terrorism, whereas in 2017 the number reached 775.
