Export from Armenia to Czech Republic sharply increases: Czechs interested in Syunik Free
Economic Zone program

YEREVAN, APRIL 25, ARMENPRESS. The export from Armenia to the Czech Republic has been sharply increased, Armenia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic and Slovakia Tigran Seyranyan told Armenpress.

He said the Armenian Embassy always presents new investment programs to the Czech business circles.

According to the Ambassador, the bilateral trade turnover volume between Armenia and the Czech Republic is not in accordance with the opportunities.

According to the foreign trade data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the trade turnover volume comprised 17.267 million USD, whereas, based on the data of the Czech statistical service, it was 24.338 million USD in 2016. “Such data difference probably is linked with the difference in calculation methodology. The important thing is that based on the Czech data, the volumes in the first two months of 2017 surpass the volumes of the previous year by almost 30%.The export from Armenia has been sharply increased. The Armenian brandy is actively sold in the Czech market, aluminum plate, wine and canned foods are being imported”, the Ambassador said.

Tigran Seyranyan said the cooperation in the fields of mechanical engineering, waste management, energy, agriculture, food industry has a great potential. “I think the investment proposals directed to the EAEU, as well as the Iranian market of 80 million have significant prospects. There is a certain interest also towards the programs on creating the Armenian-Iranian free economic zone in Syunik province”, the Ambassador said.
