YEREVAN, APRIL 25, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on April 25 hosted Vice President of India M. Hamid Ansari and the delegation led by him, press service of the President’s Office told Armenpress.

President Sargsyan welcomed the guests in Armenia, expressing hope that the official visit of the Vice President will give a new impetus to the Armenian-Indian centuries-old friendship. Speaking about the Armenian-Indian historical ties, the President said the Armenian communities formed in India in late 17-19th centuries played an active role in the country’s public, political, economic and cultural life.

Both officials agreed that the Armenian-Indian relations are a firm base for strengthening the inter-state ties, as well as expanding the cooperation agenda in different fields.

Serzh Sargsyan and M. Hamid Ansari attached importance to high-level mutual visits and active contacts at various levels, including also between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

India’s Vice President conveyed Serzh Sargsyan the message of President of India Pranab Mukherjee where he invites Armenia’s President to India on an official visit to discuss the Armenian-Indian cooperation agenda and the possibilities and prospects to deepen the relations.

In addition to bilateral ties, they also discussed the situation in the region, the existing threats, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process, as well as other international issues.
