YEREVAN, MAY 24, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan hosted the Iranian delegation led by Minister of Agriculture Mahmoud Hojjati, press service of the Government told Armenpress.

The PM attached importance to the development of economic cooperation with Iran, stating that the implementation of joint programs in the agriculture field can contribute to it which will also boost the growth of trade turnover volumes.

Karen Karapetyan said the involvement of Iranian capital in the Meghri free economic zone will give new impetus to expanding and deepening the bilateral economic ties. The PM said the Government is ready to provide necessary assistance to Iranian businessmen aimed at carrying out an activity in Armenia. PM Karapetyan expressed confidence that this will enable the Iranian side to enter the Eurasian Economic Union with favorable terms, as well as the European market through GSP+ regime.

In his turn the Iranian Minister thanked for the reception and attached importance to the further development of economic partnership, stating that the economic opportunities of both states must boost the trade turnover growth. Mahmoud Hojjati expressed satisfaction over the results of meetings with Armenian partners.

During the meeting issues relating to establishing Iranian Office in Armenia for assessing the production quality, export and import company, implementing programs in fishing industry, as well as possibilities to create tomato processing joint factory in Armenia were discussed.
