YEREVAN, AUGUST 12, ARMENPRESS. Israeli lawmaker Zouheir Bahloul form the Zionist Union finds it difficult to predict whether the recent recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the Education, Culture and Sports committee of the Knesset will contribute to the recognition by Israel.

“The committee decided to present a written proposal regarding the Armenian Genocide, and it’s difficult to say whether it will contribute to the recognition by Israel.  Zehava Gal-On, President of the Meretz party talked to the Armenian community in Israel, and decided to suspend the speculations of this issue in the Parliament, hoping the committee’s recognition will push the government to take some steps”, the Israeli lawmaker told ARMENPRESS.

The Armenian Genocide issue was discussed in the Israeli Parliament on July 5, initiated by Zehava Gal-On, President of the Meretz party.

On August 1, the Education, Culture, Sports committee of the Israeli Parliament recognized the Armenian Genocide.
