Nuclear Power Plant all OK – assures deputy minister

There are no problems with Armenia’s Nuclear Power Plant, citizens have no reason to be alarmed, Hayk Harutyunyan, deputy minister of energy infrastructures and natural resources told a press conference in ARMENPRESS, commenting on the recent initiation of the 110kV first network differential protection.
“That wasn’t a problem of the nuclear plant. It was actually an ordinary problem of the high-voltage electricity network lines. It happened due to ice accumulation. This case shows that the protection systems of the nuclear plant are working perfectly. The problem was eliminated in a short period of time, there was no problem in the systems. I would like to once again emphasize that this wasn’t a problem of the nuclear plant”, Harutyunyan said.
The deputy minister stressed that the nuclear power plant is operating perfectly. The technical equipment is on a high level.
The 110kV first line differential protection system of the nuclear power plant was initiated on January 21 due to a power outage in high-voltage (110kV) electricity lines. The problem has been fully eliminated and the nuclear power plant is operating normally.
