Francophone Days kick off in Armenia
YEREVAN, MARCH 19, ARMENPRESS: On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the International Organization of the Francophonie (l'Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), RA Foreign Affairs Ministry took the initiative to organize the Francophone Days in Armenia, which officially kicked off March 19. Christian Ter-Stepanyan, advisor to the Armenian Foreign Minister on Francophone issues, said at a press conference today that a number of events in the spheres of music, literature, science, education, etc. will be held in Yerevan and the regions of Armenia till April 10.

YEREVAN, JULY 29, ARMENPRESS: In the first quarter of 2010 the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute had 130 225 visitors. Deputy director of the museum-institute Seda Barsamyan noted that this year the number of visitors has increased as compared with the same span of the past year when 129 906 people visited the museum. The majority of visitors are foreigners.

YEREVAN, JULY 26, ARMENPRESS: An NGO studying Armenian architecture will start new calculation of historic monuments in Artsakh in the first quarter of 2011. Chairman of the NGO Samvel Karapetyan told Armenpress that the first studies in Artsakh he made still in 1980s and the second one after the war which ended only in 1998. “At that time I was working alone and it was very hard work. Now we are an organization which a bit facilitates the work. We are planning to again conduct calculation but because of being busy it is being postponed,” Karapetyan said.

YEREVAN, JULY 23, ARMENPRESS: The Yerevan History Museum in the first half of the running year had more than 6 000 visitors. Director of the museum Armine Sargsyan told Armenpress that the museum has no issue of acquiring new materials, during the recent period every time new materials are being received mainly as donations. The donations are being made by Yerevan people, diaspora Armenians. They provide different documents, photos, personal things. The museum cooperates with archeologists and the materials found as a result of the excavations in Yerevan are also being provided. The samples are being presented both during temporary and permanent expositions. The museum keeps 89 000 samples.
