Closure of Lachin Corridor “has the potential to precipitate into a humanitarian crisis” –
India at UN

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. The closure of Lachin Corridor is a matter of deep concern and has the potential to precipitate into a humanitarian crisis, the representative of India said at the UN Security Council meeting.

“The reports regarding blockade of Lachin Corridor indicate adverse implications on the supply of essential items such as food and medicine to Nagorno Karabakh. This is a matter of deep concern and has the potential to precipitate into a humanitarian crisis. We join the Secretary General in calling for de-escalating tensions, and to ensure freedom and security of movement along the corridor in line with the previously reached agreements. We reaffirm our support to the ongoing mediation efforts in the region. It has been our consistent position that such disputes should be settled through diplomacy and dialogue.

We encourage both sides to pursue diplomatic pathways to arrive at a lasting and peaceful solution. We continue to reiterate that the global order is anchored on international law, the UN Charter and respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states.”
