Full moon to illuminate July night sky twice
YEREVAN, JULY 2, ARMENPRESS: In astronomical terms, July will stand out with a unique phenomenon – two full moons – which takes place once in several years. The co-president of the Armenian Astronomical Company Areg Mikaelyan told Armenpress about it.
“This phenomenon is unique for the fact that the full moon has a period of twenty-eight days and the phenomenon should be observed on the first and the last days of the month so that the full moon is seen twice in a month. According to approximate calculations, the repetition of this phenomenon is possible once in twenty-eight months”, - said Areg Mikaelyan.
This year the double full moon was seen first at night on July 2 and the second – the Blue full moon – will be seen on July 31.
