Online IT Academy to be established in Armenia, MoU signed

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. On December 14 a trilateral memorandum of understanding was signed between National Center of Educational Technologies of the Ministry of Education and Science, “Softline International” company and State College of Informatics of the Ministry of Education and Science.

The signing of the MoU will serve the basis for raising the quality of education in information and communication technologies professions in educational institutions, jointly developing and implementing new educational programs with “Softline International”.

“The first precondition to achieve success in the information and communication technology sector in Armenia is the preparation of qualified specialists in this sector in the educational institutions. We will be able to create an educational atmosphere in compliance with international standards and technological progress for our students through the cooperation with international companies, thus, by this promoting the culture of acquiring online knowledge, as well as following the security principles of the ICT use in Armenia”, NCET Director Artak Poghosyan said.

Within the framework of joint projects, it is expected to establish an online IT Academy by the State College of Informatics” which can boost the development of computer skills and knowledge and the formation of modern labor market.

“The online course have long been a reality and are being actively used by students. However, these resources are mainly in English, recently in Russian as well. I think our potential in the IT sector and the cooperation with leading international companies will allow to have also an online Armenian course which can be used by the students not only of our college, but also those of other educational institutions”, Director of State College of Informatics Robert Abrahamyan said.

Director of “Softline International” company Sargis Harutyunyan is also confident that the joint educational projects will prepare a ground for the sector’s educational development and implementation of wider projects.

“Softline company attaches importance to the general awareness in the ICT sector, as well as spreading knowledge on security of ICT use both in the education sector and the business circles. We are convinced that only through literate ICT policy it is possible to have competitive business, education system and state with international standards”, Harutyunyan said.
