Declaring European lawmakers as internationally wanted is sign of Azerbaijan’s political hysteria –

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 23, ARMENPRESS. Declaring MEPs as internationally wanted is a sign of political hysteria of Azerbaijani leadership, Larisa Alaverdyan, executive director of the “Against Legal Arbitrariness” NGO, former Human Rights Defender of Armenia, told a press conference in “Armenpress”.

“This is, of course, a sign of political hysteria. They even presented fake numbers in their media on the observers who visited Karabakh, stating that it is Lapshin’s impact. In addition, all this speaks about the fact how the serious tool of international law is being distorted in the hands of a barbarian”, Alaverdyan said.

“Ordinary genocide” project coordinator Marina Girgoryan said she had a chance to speak with the EU lawmakers, and she is confident that they will continue visiting Karabakh as they did before.

“I don’t think in reality the EU lawmakers will be extradited, this is more like a demonstrative, propaganda step. We don’t know what effect it will have later, but I am convinced that these lawmakers, who are very honest, principled figures, will continue visiting Karabakh”, Marina Grigoryan said.

In her turn Larisa Alaverdyan said Azerbaijan that took the path of barbarism will not come to its senses. “This is its style acquired since 1918. In such cases we must be consistent, make this an issue of political agenda. We must be the initiator side”, she said, stating that works must be jointly carried out in all platforms, political, propaganda, legal and etc.

Azerbaijani media report  the country’s leadership declared MEPs Frank Engel (Luxembourg), Jaromír Štětina (Czech Republic) and Eleni Theocharous (Cyprus) as internationally wanted.
