Armenia-EU common aviation area deal to lead to ticket price decrease, says Aviation dept. chief

YEREVAN, APRIL 27, ARMENPRESS. The signing of the common aviation area agreement between the European Union and Armenia will lead to a very serious competition in the aviation market, which will happen due to activation of airline companies, Sergey Avetisyan, head of the General Department of Civil Aviation told reporters on April 27.

“In its turn, the increase of competition will lead to decrease of airticket prices and increase of service quality”, he said.

The first round of talks between EU and Armenia on the common aviation area agreement kicked off in Yerevan on April 27.

Avetisyan didn’t mention specific dates, as to when the talks will be completed.

He expressed hope that they will be able to finalize the agreement in a short period of time.
