1000 computer systems affected in Armenia from global cyberattack

YEREVAN, MAY 16, ARMENPRESS. The recent global cyberattack has affected over 1000 computer systems in Armenia, information security expert Samvel Martirosyan said.

Both individuals and corporations have been affected.

“Since the threat exists, it is recommended to update the operation system. Experience shows that computers of serious corporations which haven’t had updated operation systems have been affected. In addition, attention must be drawn on the anti-virus program”, Martirosyan said.

He advised not to open strange and unfamiliar emails, since viruses often enter the system by this route.

Upon affecting the computer, the WannaCry virus encrypts and blocks all data. The virus later demands money to restore the files.
