YEREVAN, MAY 22, ARMENPRESS. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the kidnapping of a 34 year old man, identified as A. Virabyan.

On May 19, police were notified that the man was kidnapped from Yerevan’s Paronyan Street at 17:00.

According to preliminary information, the man was forced to get into a vehicle under threat, was handcuffed and taken to a cemetery in the city’s Erebuni and Nubarashen district. The kidnappers battered the victim and demanded cash for his release.

The man was set free at 21:30.

Police launched criminal proceedings in the incident.

The next day, on May 20, five people were detained in suspicion of the kidnapping.

Numerous people have been questioned and interrogated by police to determine the exact details and circumstances of the kidnapping.
