First Aurora Prize Laureate Marguerite Barankitse visits Upper Mosque in Shushi, Artsakh

YEREVAN, MAY 22, ARMENPRESS. Free Artsakh welcomed the first Aurora Prize Laureate Marguerite Barankitse, the Culture Ministry of Artsakh told Armenpress.

Marguerite Barankitse held meetings with representatives of various communities in Artsakh.

In the Naregatsi Art Center the Aurora Prize Laureate danced Papuri folk dance together with the Center’s students.

Marguerite Barankitse also visited Shushi’s St. Ghazanchetsots church, the Upper Mosque where recently the excavation and cleaning operations completed.

Maggy told the public about the path she passed, the importance of gratitude and victory of love, by spreading the wave of humanitarianism in entire Artsakh.

On May 23 she will meet with the students of the Artsakh State University, will visit the War Martyrs Museum, later she will go to Gandzasar monastery.

Marguerite Barankitse, the founder of Maison Shalom and REMA hospital, received the Aurora Prize on April 24, 2016, for the exceptional impact of her actions on preserving lives during the years of civil war in Burundi. To date, she has saved 30 thousand children and offered them shelter and care.
