Several WCIT 2019 speakers want to make investments in Armenia - UATE President

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 16, ARMENPRESS. Several speakers of the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 201), which recently was held in Yerevan, have sent a letter to the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE), stating that they want to make an investment in Armenia, UATE President Alexander Yesayan told reporters during a press conference.

“The Congress was held in accordance with our expectations. We keep in touch with all speakers, talk to them separately on any interests. Some of them have already sent letters informing that they want to make investments in Armenia for both the companies and the venture funds”, he said, but didn’t announce the names of these speakers. The UATE chief, however, informed that the number of these speakers is over 4.

During the Congress various Armenian companies had meetings with foreigners, foreign company representatives aimed at starting cooperation.

The UATE President said that he has also received notices from foreign companies which have offices in Armenia. Some of them made a decision to expand their activity in Armenia. The San Jose state university thinks of launching cooperation with the Armenian universities. SkyDeck accelerator was already cooperating with the Armenian startups, but after the Congress the discussions continue in a more positive manner.

Alexander Yesayan said during that three days Armenia became a center.

More than 5 million US dollars were spent for the organization of the WCIT 2019 in Armenia. The Armenian government also provided support, 450 million AMD, from the budget for the organization of the WCIT concert.
