Boosting tourist flow to Gyumri in winter: Armenia launches marketing campaign in several
countries

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s Tourism Committee is launching a marketing policy with the additional funds provided from the budget, focusing on the development of winter tourism.

Chair of the Armenian Tourism Federation Mekhak Apresyan told a press conference in Armenpress that Gyumri will be on the focus. The campaign launched by the cooperation of the Tourism Committee, the Armenian Tourism Federation and the Marketing Association.

“A targeted marketing campaign will be carried out in Russia, China and Georgia. The goal is to activate tourism also in the passive season, in winter. There is a task to boost the tourist flow to Gyumri in winter”, he said, adding that in Georgia works will be carried out both with the locals and tourists.

Apresyan said the winter tourism is dynamically developing in Armenia. Along with the traditional Jermuk and Tsaghkadzor resort towns, there are also new centers, such as Ashotsk community in Shirak province and Lernanist community in Kotayk province.

“But, of course, such a policy is needed in order to show that the winter tourism in Armenia is not only limited to skiing, the focus should be paid on the fact that here one can also spend the New Year, Christmas holidays”, he added.
