Kapan City named 2020 Youth Capital of Armenia

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. The city of Kapan in Armenia’s Syunik Province has been elected the 2020 Youth Capital City.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports will implement local and international youth programs in the city in 2020.

Armavir, Kapan ,Hrazdan, Gavar and Goris were competing for the title, and the winner was selected as a result of an sms vote and an expert assessment through studies on the ground.

Interestingly, Hrazdan city received most votes through the SMS voting, and Kapan was the runner up, however the additional assessments by experts eventually named the former as winner.

“Kapan will be the center of youth events, numerous youth programs will take place there,” said Gevorg Loretsyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
