YEREVAN, MAY 19, ARMENPRESS. ‘Yelk’ bloc faction submitted a draft decision to the parliament’s discussion which proposes to have 10 parliamentary standing committees, reports Armenpress.

The proposal was presented by MP Edmon Marukyan. He said they do not agree with the RPA’s draft decision according to which the Parliament will have 9 committees.

“We consider it unacceptable to merge the human rights committee with the committee on state-legal affairs since it is one of the overloaded committees of the parliament”, Marukyan said.

He didn’t agree with the opinion of RPA faction MP Hrayr Tovmasyan who said the committee on state-legal affairs always dealt with human rights issues. “Our stance is that there must be a separate human rights committee and it should not be merged with the standing committee on state-legal affairs”, Marukyan said.

He called on opposition MPs to support ‘Yelk’ bloc’s draft rather than that of the RPA.
