YEREVAN, OCTOBER 27, ARMENPRESS. Armenia and Russia have launched a large-scale program on modernizing the T-71 main battle tanks, Izvestia.ru reports.

The tanks will be modernized to the T-72B4 level, which was used by participants of the Tank Biathlon.

It is noteworthy that earlier the Defense Ministry of Armenia had planned to sign an agreement on modernizing tanks with the Polish “Bumar Łabędy” company.

According to Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan, the process has already begun.

While Hovhannisyan says the number of tanks and dates of the process is yet to be clarified, a source from Izvestia said several dozens of tanks will be included in the works.
