$150 mln worth investment program in renewable energy to be realized in Gegharkunik province, Armenia

YEREVAN, MARCH 30, ARMENPRESS. The Government approved the bid of Access Infra Central Asia Limited on providing land for rent without tenders within the framework of an investment program in the priority area.

Minister of energy infrastructures and natural resources Ashot Manukyan mentioned that assistance is provided to the investing company, as well as specifying individual steps for realizing the policy of renewable energy in Armenia.

According to the minister, under the national program of energy saving and renewable energy, actions of 10 year prospects have been set, for boosting energy saving and renewable energy in 2011-2020.

The Government decision allows providing the land areas of a total of 1250 hectares to the company for rent for necessary studies for realizing electricity production through renewable energy (wind). The land areas are located in Gegharkunik and Kotayk provinces.

The planned wind power stations’ capacity will be around 150 MW, and investments will comprise 150 million USD.

The Prime Minister attached significance to the decision and urged the minister to focus the process of the program’s implementation.
