YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. Eduardo Rosenbrock Bidart, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to Armenia, presented the credentials to the President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan.

As ARMENPRESS was informed from the office of the President of the Republic of Armenia, congratulating the first resident Ambassador of Uruguay, President Khachaturyan expressed hope that the opening of the Embassy of Uruguay in Armenia and this appointment will be a new impetus for the development of friendly relations between Armenia and Uruguay.

Thanking for the reception, the newly appointed Ambassador noted that during his mission, he will spare no effort to strengthen the Armenian-Uruguayan economic and cultural ties and raise the political dialogue to a new qualitative level.

During the meeting, the President of Armenia referred to the best traditions of Armenian-Uruguayan relations, emphasized that since the Soviet Union, Uruguay is a dear country to the Armenian society, which is known as the first state to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

In his speech, the President particularly stated: "I am sure that our embassy will be opened soon and it will actually be a new impetus for our relations, and we can use our opportunities more, it is specifically about economic relations and why not, also about tourism and culture."

During the conversation, Ambassador Eduardo Rosenbrock Bidart conveyed the greetings of the President of Uruguay Luis Alberto Lacalle to the President of Armenia and noted that it is an honor for him to be the first resident Ambassador of Uruguay to Armenia.

In his speech, the Ambassador specifically said: "It is the first time that Uruguay has an official presence in Armenia, despite the fact that Uruguay has more than a hundred years of friendship with the Armenian government and the Armenian people, despite the fact that the Armenian community in Uruguay is not as large as the Armenian community in the Republic of Argentina, but regardless of that, I should mention that the role of the Armenian community in Uruguay with a population of three and a half million is very significant and important. It was an important expectation of the community that Armenia be represented in Uruguay."

During the meeting, the President of Armenia and the newly appointed Ambassador discussed a wide range of issues related to the potential of Armenian-Uruguayan cooperation in digitization, high technologies and a number of other fields. The sides referred to the possibility of opening the "Tumo" creative technology center in Uruguay. At the end of the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of opening the Armenian embassy in Montevideo during the next year.
