YEREVAN, AUGUST 28, ARMENPRESS. 356 prints, created in various techniques and styles by 231 artists from 53 countries, all on one platform.

 In 2023, the "Fourth International Print Biennale, Yerevan 2023," the only event of its scale in the field of fine arts in Armenia and the region, will take place for the fourth time in Yerevan.

In an interview with "Armenpress," the President of KulturDialog Armenien mentioned that this year, the International Print Biennale, Yerevan will be held for the fourth time by the initiative of KulturDialog Armenien and with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the Yerevan Municipality.

Sona Harutyunyan emphasized: “In 2017, the KulturDialog Armenien Organization inaugurated the first International Print Biennale in Yerevan, Armenia. Prior to this event, no significant international festival in the field of fine arts had been conducted in this particular format. And by initiating an international project of this format for the first time, we could not have foreseen the immense reaction it would receive from artists around the world. We aimed to bring together artists from all around the world through this Biennale, who will establish Armenia as their gathering place, where they will convene to present their works within a unified exposition”.

She stressed that “The Fourth International Print Biennale, Yerevan 2023” the only one of its size in the field of fine arts in Armenia and in the region, is not only a significant event in the cultural life of the capital city, but also establishes the role of Armenia as a center of printmaking in the region.

With great joy, Sona Harutyunyan pointed out that 1,500 works were presented at the preliminary stage of this year's festival. This number reflects the international growth, recognition, and significance of the festival within the global community.

As a result of the first pre-selection phase, the International Jury of the Fourth International Print Biennale, Yerevan 2023 selected for presenting at the final competition in Yerevan 356 prints, created in various techniques and styles by 231 artists from 53 countries – from among the 1,500 works of 416 artists from 55 countries.

She mentioned, that according to the number of artists participating in the Fourth International Print Biennale, Yerevan 2023, Poland ranks first with 46 artists, followed by Armenia with 39, Russia with 16, France with 8, and Japan with 7 printmakers.

The Festival Oganizer mentioned that within the framework of the Fourth International Print Biennale, Yerevan 2023, from September 12 to 17, 2023, for the first time in Armenia and in the region, KulturDialog Armenien and the Organizing Committee of the International Print Biennale, Yerevan, are holding the International Printmaking Symposium “Armenia: A Center of Printmaking in the Region”, with the participation of international engraving experts 50  from 30 countries.

She emphasized, that it is a great honor for KulturDialog Armenien and the Organizing Committee of the International Print Biennale, Yerevanin the frames of the Fourth International Print Biennale, Yerevan 2023, to present in the capital Yerevan356 prints by prominent artists engaged in printmaking from all over the world, creating a unique platform for dialogue on contemporary fine art printmaking in the region.

One of our goals is to develop the field of Printmaking in Armenia. This involves increasing the number of students  in all universities where printmaking is taught  and fostering greater interest among artists in printmaking techniques.

Sona Harutyunyan mentioned that the  International Jury members of the "The Fourth International Print Biennale, Yerevan 2023"as a result of the final discussionwill select the award winners, who will be awarded four medals: Grand Prix, First, Second, and Third prizes, which created one of the Armenian sculptures . The author of this year trophiesis the Armenian sculptor Manvel Matevosyan.Special prizes will be awarded to the participants who have received special attention, and the best engravings will receive certificates of honor.

The Official Opening Ceremony of "The Fourth International Print Biennale, Yerevan 2023" will take place at 7 P.M.  on September 8, 2023 in the "Aznavour" center (192 Verin Antarayin).
