YEREVAN, AUGUST 24, ARMENPRESS. A festival dedicated to Armenian actor Mher Mkrtchyan will be held in Gyumri on September 17 ahead of the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence.

The idea of the festival belongs to Digital Pomegranate company and Tsiranapogh NGO.

The festival is being held within the framework of “Visit Gyumri” tourism initiative.

One of the organizers of the festival Lilit Broyan told “Armenpress” the festival aims to contribute to the development of tourism in Gyumri, as well as to make the visitors once again get acquainted with the life and activity of prominent actor Mher Mkrtchyan.

“We plan to bring 100 visitors to Gyumri that day, and we are happy that we already have 30 registered participants from different places of Armenia, such as Ararat, Masis, Yerevan and etc., this means that people started to be interested in the festival. The guests will visit Mher Mkrtchyan’s museum in Gyumri, then they will take part in the ceremonies, we will receive Mher Mkrtchyan’s old photos through the street-art in Vardanants Square”, she said.

She said they want to apply to tourism agencies to involve foreign tourists in the festival.

That day the opening of Visit Gyumri mobile application, as well as the website of M. Mkrtchyan’s museum will take place.

Visit Gyumri is Gyumri’s main official tourism platform. It provides complete information on Gyumri’s major historical-architectural structures, buildings, history, famous people, art and culture.
