Francois Hollande rules out military solution to NK conflict during meeting with Aliyev

YEREVAN, MARCH 15, ARMENPRESS. President of France Francois Hollande is convinced the time has long come to achieve progress and find ways in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, Hollande said during a dinner with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who is in Paris on an official visit, APA reports.

Mentioning that the talks  are resuming for already 23 years and the sides haven’t yet reached any result, Hollande said: “There is nothing worse than the status quo. The clashes of 2016 April and a few weeks ago prove that this conflict never ended”.

Hollande reminded how much effort his country makes in the direction of settling the issue with other Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.

“I said this to President Sargsyan who arrived in Paris few days ago, I will repeat it for you too. This conflict cannot be settled militarily. France will continue making tireless mediating efforts with Russia and the US. These efforts are based on the principles of territorial integrity and self determination principles, as well as avoiding military ways. France is ready to display any initiative in this circle”, Hollande said.
