Russia takes necessary measures to protect Marat Ueldanov-Galustyan’s rights

YEREVAN, MAY 18, ARMENPRESS. The Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan makes all necessary efforts to fully protect the rights and interests of Marat Ueldanov-Galustyan, a Russian citizen of Armenian origin jailed in Azerbaijan for 8 years, official representative of the Russian MFA Maria Zakharov told during a briefing. “The trial of Russian citizen Marat Ueldanov-Galustyan ended on April 28. He was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment by the Court of Baku for grave crimes – illegal acquisition narcotics, maintenance and transportation. The representative of the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan followed the procedure. The court verdict was appealed. Starting from April 29 Ueldanov has been stationed in N1 penitentiary. The opportunity of the extradition of Ueldanov to Russia for serving the remaining sentence is being examined”, “Armenpress” reports Zakharova saying.

According to her, the Russian Embassy in Baku keeps in constant contact with Ueldanov-Galustyan, his lawyer and the Azerbaijani authorities and takes all necessary measures to ensure the full protection of his rights and interests.
