YEREVAN, MARCH 22, ARMENPRESS. Within the framework of the “Green City Lighting” program implemented by Yerevan City Hall and the UNDP, the installation works of the LED energy saving light poles in Tstitsernakaberd Highway have been completed.

The first stage was launched and finished in 2016, and under the second stage the overpass-Leningradyan Street part was equipped with LED street lights.

The installed lights provide proportionate lighting in line with modern requirements, and improve the visibility and security of the road, as well as contribute to decrease of greenhouse gas emissions.

Overall under the program around 1000 LED lighting poles have been installed in Yerevan. Due to the program, energy expenditure in the areas where the LED lights have been installed decreased by around 70%.

The financing of this work is done by a renewable fund, which is complemented by financial savings which occur as result of projects under the program.
