Armenia’s communities ready for nationwide clean-up

YEREVAN, MAY 26, ARMENPRESS. Within the frames of ‘Clean Armenia’ initiative, a nationwide clean-up will launch on May 27 throughout the country.

Vache Terteryan, First Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development, Chairman of ‘Clean Armenia’ initiative’s interagency commission, told a press conference in Armenpress significant preparation works have been carried out, and the communities are ready for clean-up.

“The resources of government agencies, private companies and the structures ready to assist the initiative have been mobilized. After the event we will make all efforts to maintain the received result and make it continuous”, Terteryan said.

The First Deputy Minister said it is already a month works have being implemented in all provinces and communities. It was reported that 600 out of more than 2000 existing landfills are either closed or transferred. Works continue in connection with over 300 landfills.

“Our actions aim at reaching effectiveness of garbage disposal, sanitarian cleaning process, increasing the quality of services provided. It is necessary to reach the point to include more areas in this process”, Vache Terteryan said.

He stated that works also need to be carried out with people so that they will show certain behavior by having a contribution to this national task to keep Armenia clean.
