CSTO declaration and document on Armenia support must be revised – Speaker of Parliament

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS. Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan says it is “ridiculous” that in conditions when Armenia joined the CSTO to be protected from the Turkish-Azeri tandem the organization failed to give even a sufficient political assessment when the time has come.

“It is ridiculous. We joined the CSTO to defend ourselves from whom? There are no two answers to this, it is the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem. And when the time came for at least a political assessment to be made, that political assessment was insufficient. The response to this was that Armenia simply refused to sign the document, expecting that the political assessment will nevertheless be added,” Simonyan said, referring to Armenia refusing to sign the CSTO declaration and the document on providing support to Armenia during the November 23 summit.

The Speaker said that the document must be revised. “That’s the logic and conduct which is in the basis of the organization,” Simonyan said.
