YEREVAN, DECEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS.  The leadership of Azerbaijan will make a great mistake if takes the peaceful aspirations of the Armenian people as a sign of weakness and further toughens its stance on Karabakh issue, first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan told in his speech during the convocation of the Armenian National Congress party. “I believe the April war must be an evidence for them about the ability of the Armenian people to consolidate at the time of threats and give a powerful counterblow to any encroachment. Azerbaijan will definitely suffer bitter defeat in the next war unleashed by Azerbaijan, whenever it happens, and will lose other territories”, “Armenpress” reports Ter-Petrosyan saying.

He added that contrary to the military rhetoric of Ilham ALiyev, he assesses Aliyev as a rational political figure, who is able to make comprehensive steps for peace, like once his father Heydar Aliyev responded to his “War or peace?” article by an expanded speech in a reasonable manner.
