Ilham Aliyev’s statements are false – Freedom House

YEREVAN, MAY 15, ARMENPRESS. Human rights organization Freedom House commented on the shutdown of opposition websites in Azerbaijan, meydan.tv reports.

“The blocking of opposition media websites proves that all statements of the Azerbaijani government and President Ilham Aliyev on internet freedom in the country are false”, Freedom House said in a statement.

Robert Herman, vice president for external programs of Freedom House, said the shutdown of opposition websites in Azerbaijan can be a precedent for Ilham Aliyev to pressure and limit freedom of speech and media in the future.
