Gardman-Shirvan-Nakhijevan Pan-Armenian Union addresses Toivo Klaar's statement

Gardman-Shirvan-Nakhijevan Pan-Armenian Union addresses Toivo Klaar's statement

YEREVAN, MARCH 27, ARMENPRESS. The Gardman-Shirvan-Nakhijevan Pan-Armenian Union has referred to Toivo Klaar’s statement, the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, regarding his condemnation of threats made against Armenia by Azerbaijani media.

The statement issued by the Union reads as follows:

"Toivo Klaar, the representative of the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, has deemed the threats against Armenia in the Azerbaijani media unacceptable. State-ordered anti-Armenian speech and threats of blackmail by the government-controlled media in that country, which is a leader in the matter of restricting freedom of speech and expression, are unfortunately not new occurrences.

The Azerbaijani media consistently "echoes" the baseless demands of the Azerbaijani leadership, amplifying threatening rhetoric and providing a distorted "legal-historical" justification. In this way, on the one hand, Azerbaijan artificially obstructs the process of regional settlement, and on the other hand, shifts the 'blame' for this obstruction onto Armenia." This is one of the indicators of Azerbaijani destructiveness, but not the last one, on which we consider it necessary to draw the attention of Toivo Klaar.

It is not only threats that are generated by the Azerbaijani media, but also the clear and unwavering Armenophobia, which has been bearing its bitter fruits for several decades. Azerbaijani society, from kindergarten to various levels of education and upbringing, is indoctrinated with immeasurable hatred against Armenia and Armenians, as evidenced by the glorification and worship of individuals like Ramil Safarov and Kamil Zeynalli, who have committed anti-human acts, in the public.

The Azerbaijani media is stubbornly silent about the massacres and atrocities committed by Azerbaijan in Sumgait in 1988, Baku in 1990, Maragha in 1992, and other Armenian and Armenian-populated places, the complete destruction of the Jugha Armenian cemetery and Armenian spiritual-national heritage. These acts are deemed criminal against humanity. Instead, the media glorifies the demolition of the Nagorno-Karabakh National Assembly building as a place for planning "crimes".

While the buildings of all Azerbaijani state departments, where war crimes against Armenians were planned at different times should be demolished and condemned.

The Gardman-Shirvan-Nakhchivan Pan-Armenian Union demands that delegates take active steps in investigating and condemning the anti-Armenian propaganda spread by the Azerbaijani media, as well as the speeches of hatred and enmity against Armenia and Armenians.
