Turkey’s Chief of General Staff suspected in close ties with key coup plotter

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 24, ARMENPRESS. Turkish lawmaker Mahmut Tanal from the Republican People's Party announced that the Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces General Hulusi Akar has close ties with one of the plotters of the military coup attempt Major General Mehmet Disli, Cumhurriyet reports.
The lawmaker said Akar and Disli had jointly purchased land area in Sakarya, where they planned to be neighbors after retiring. Tanal sent an inquiry to the four-star General Akar, but didn’t get a response.
