YEREVAN, MAY 12, ARMENPRESS. President Serzh Sargsyan on May 12 hosted Archbishop Marek Solczyński, Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See to Armenia (residence in Tbilisi) on the occasion of completion of his diplomatic mission, press service of the President’s Office told Armenpress.

The Armenian President thanked Marek Solczyński for his work of the last 5 years, for the efforts and great personal contribution on strengthening the relations between Armenia and the Holy See.

The sides agreed that the last 5 years gave new impetus to Armenia-Vatican inter-state relations, strengthening the high level political dialogue and the existing mutual understanding. According to the President, the historical events happened in this period, such as the establishment of Armenia’s Embassy in Vatican, the high level mutual visits, including the visit of Pope Francis to Armenia, ‘Visit to first Christian nation’, the ecumenical mass delivered by Pope for the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims, enriched the inter-state agenda with new content and opened additional opportunities for further deepening the cooperation.

Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope Archbishop Marek Solczyński will remember Armenia during his future missions and will remain good friend of Armenia and its people.

In his turn Archbishop Marek Solczyński thanked President Sargsyan for the assistance shown during his entire activity and said he is grateful that he had a chance to take part in historical events aimed at strengthening and deepening the bilateral ties.
